Stories like this one (http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-immigrant-cuts17-2010feb17,0,2170860.story?page=1) make my want to reconsider my stance on legal immigration. Just read the entitlement mentality some of these people have! It's outrageous! Just a thought, but aren't legal immigrants supposed to have a sponsor to ensure that they do not end up on the dole?

Sure they do. But you can't get blood out of a turnip. If the feds send the bill to the sponsor, and the sponsor doesn't give it, the feds don't repo the immigrant; they just have a new debtor to keep a tab on. That begs the question: is the sponsors debt dischargeable in bankruptcy?
