Trump running
Did you listen to Trump's announcement? What do you think? He sure hit on some strong points.

Well, if ever there was a time for a shoot out it's now. Getting everyone to talk on issues that are politically correct and discussing the harm it's doing is a start.

Until recently, Democrat politicians stuck together even if they hated each other. Some of that is changing, I saw some of the viscous invective they normally reserve for any sort of opposition unleashed on one another in some of the more recent California elections.
However, "Republican primary" should be a synonym for "back stab", "smear", "dirty trick" and "fratricide" with special a meaning of doing the enemy's dirty work for him. Then there's always the diehard / sore loser to split the vote during the general election ensuring a Democrat win. Increasing voter choice and expanding the dialogue or adding to the debate is one thing, eye gouging and kicking each other in the nuts is another and it seems Trump has an industrial size spray can full of of political stink and is ready to start spraying. As incredible as it is, Hillary has a shot at pulling off the election. If not, if Republican candidates behave in the normal mode ham fisted election mode there's a good chance they will give the election to (shoot self in the head) Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren.

Well we'll see. If anything it will be interesting to see how the politicians respond and how the public accepts their explanations.
What this country needs is for the citizens to speak louder than the media; to actually start yelling. It is the media that needs a lesson in civics and journalism. If they begin to realize no one believes their crap or depends on them for the truth, then maybe they'll stop trying to lead us down the spiral this country is in. I just don't see Hillary succeeding at anything. But then again, California has a 30% functionally illiterate rate and we have Moonbeam again in Sacramento. Stupid ignorance is hard to wipe out and Clinton dodges without a question. Maybe the media will try to clean itself up, but that's a long shot. What Trump did do is expose the hypocrisy of the political class. Now we'll see who is so beholden to the party that they'll commit political suicide one way or the other. I don't care if the GOP explodes, they're no good to me the way they've become. And the Dems are so damaged now that only the far left will defend them. It will be very interesting to watch the feathers fly. |

I haven't seen the figures, but I understand that the media ranks right down with used car salesmen in the polling.
Sure, a cat fight is always fun to watch and there's nothing so fascinating as watching a train wreck as it happens. And, it's not exactly news that there is plenty of hypocrisy in the political class on both sides. I will add that I neither like nor trust either side, not the least that both sides sold out their constituencies years ago. I get it. However, you have to do what works - or at least gets you in a positive direction. I was with a political group for a year or so that was actually hard working and had a good message. There was some disconnect on how to appeal to the younger crowd, but they were headed in a good direction. Then, the last meeting I attended somehow became a sort of a camp meeting revival, to which I objected and then I left and haven't been back. You bring people in by showing them a way to become gainfully employed and having a piece of the pie through the private sector, not by preaching at them. In another venue I wanted to present the fact that if the Supreme Court rules that the Obamacare law is to be interpreted not by literal wording but by a subjective judgement of "intent", then literal wording of the 14th amendment and birth right citizenship becomes unraveled. The background discussion had to do with citizenship of former slaves and their descendants and affirm their 2nd amendment rights in order to defend themselves while denying 2nd amendment rights to Indian tribes with whom there were active hostilities - it had nothing to do with illegal migration or birth tourism over a century later. As I anticipated, the subsequent discussion became diverted with the arguable notion that even though it's been going on since Washington's last year in office and that the practice has practically zero chance of changing, the Constitution doesn't support Judicial review by the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court shouldn't be ruling on the constitutionality of either Obamacare or the 14th Amendment. So, pointing out that Obamacare activists / open borders nut jobs can't have it both ways got side tracked with the unspoken notion that we should be standing on the Supreme Court steps wearing sackcloth and yelling at passersby that judicial review by the Supreme Court is unconstitutional. That stuff doesn't advance a political cause. You have to do what works, and it has been amply demonstrated that fur and feathers flying around inside the Republican electoral tent doesn't work. If it goes that way, they just may as well take down and stow their circus tent and just go home because they will be wasting everyone else's time by giving the election away. Hillary is very objectionable and and if you think it's been bad with Obama either Warren or Sanders would be the Obama third term he would have liked to have had in his first term. Don't give them the election.

Well, we'll see, yes, we will see. Each day something new springs up. If the Republicans destroy themselves, then they got what they deserved. Same goes for the liberals and any other political party. We need leaders, not go along to get along. So if they can't lead or if they try to get in the way of someone or stop someone who can lead, then we may as well pack it in because they've become the problem.
I don't see any progress happening because of the media we have today. But, again I say, I do not want someone who goes along just to get along. That would just be a different set of people but the same crap and pay to play shit. |

There are a couple in the sea of candidates that I may prefer over the others. And, due to how jaded I am, I could almost take seriously the joke that Bruce Jenner would make the best candidate of all on the Republican ticket:

I want to hear their ideas, not how bad the other candidates are. We've already been through somewhat this sort of thing in California with Schwartzenegger waving his broom around at the podium during the election. I haven't seriously checked it out, but I think the only two non politicians elected to the White House were General Washington and General Eisenhower. Obama is close to being a non politician who's primary career was that of a socialist community organizer, Warren is mostly a socialist academic who lied about ethnicity to get benefit. Long term Congressman Bernie Sanders is a life long, avowed, hard core socialist. Consummate politician Hillary Clinton is unfit to even carry out Reagan's chamber pot and all four of the above are dogmatic hypocrites. So, I'm involved, but it's not out of any great love of the Republican party. I truly fear the scorched earth that's going to come out of a progressive Democratic electoral victory.

Two months later, Trump is doing much better than I thought he would do.
Trump told me much of what I wanted to hear in his Atlanta speech last night, I only heard about the first half. But, there is so much seduction that ends with unwanted pregnancy and getting kicked to the curb. Will Trump be the real deal, or will he fail us in any one of many possible ways? There's a lot at stake here, like one to three Supreme Court nominations and a great fork in the road for the nation. If the Democrats get it because the vote is split or enough disgusted conservatives stay home instead of voting, we become a bizarre fusion of the Sierra Club and UC Berkely with Stalinist / Robespierre authoritarianism; a progressive, sado-masochistic Pee Wee Herman's "playhouse" with all the self sacrifice and fiduciary restraint of Greece. San Francisco's private jet liberalism, Sacramento progressive lunacy and Democrat driven Los Angeles county poverty goes national on Jerry Brown's high speed crazy train to nowhere. To what degree will the progressive movement eat its own children along with everyone else should America fall to the far left? We'll be done if another Democrat gets the White House this next election.

Trump has at least the managerial experience to do the job. He's got financial savvy, and he's more of a public figure than Obama was when he made his first shot at the whitehouse. Personally I don't care if he's a volatile, foul mouthed, rich kid with no government experience. I WANT CHANGE, and the change we got with obama wasn't change at all.; it was more of the same corrupt BS we've had for years, with less restraint. We ain't gettin' any change with Rubio, Bush, walker, romney, bloomberg, fiorina, or anyone else I can see yet, and Cruz hasn't lit a fire big enough to cause enough people to warm to him.
These other republicans REFUSE to accept our message. The dems refuse to acknowledge there's a problem. They are just not ever going to let us in. I say Trump is the revolt we need at present, for if we don't, the republicans are just going to be covered over with immigrant voters in a couple more elections anyway. |
