Same thing happened during the decade long Mexican Revolution after 1910. Lots of atrocities from all sides, the least from Zapata's group.
Mexican history repeats itself. The question beyond the symptoms is how to get out of the cycle and join the modern world.

"Taken refuge"? If people are being "displaced" into the US, then how are they getting here? Are they here illegally? Are we granting special immigration status for people claiming to be fleeing mob violence in Mexico?
We don't want them. We don't care if they are afraid of gangsters in Mexico. We have enough gangsters of our own in the US. Throw them out with the rest of the trash. If they won't deal with their social problems, there is no relief for them here.
