It pays to learn Spanish, not so much to cater to them but to play dumb in order to let those who kiss your ass in English out themselves by talking crap about you in Spanish when they think you don't have a clue.

That is exactly what I have been telling people for years, ever since the invasion began. I worked with a fatso during the eighties who was bad at using Spanish in a group of English speaking Americans.
I understand some spanish, who does not, but not much.

It is an asset these days to know more than one language no matter what it is.
