The cop looked out of line to me, there was no need to punch her in the face.

The video is choppy. First you see the officer hit the girl in the pink blouse, than you instantly see him struggling with the one in the black blouse. It looks like he was the only officer there, and when you see him struggling with the girl in the black blouse, you have to wonder where the girl in the pink blouse is.

This video isn't very clear as to how the event actually took place. But I do wonder why he would feel the need to punch her. Could she have had a weapon on her?

I don't know how it all started but don't give me this blanking nonsense that a police officer has the right to smam a fist in the face of a WOMAN. I would bet the little blank would not have the guts to face a man.
I read the first post too late to call the Seattle PD today, I will call tomorrow and it will not be to thank the Lil Blank.

Ya, I don't think that was necessary.

I didn't see it.

Did she stand up and hit him like a man would? If that were the case...

On the other hand, cops do all kinds of uncalled for things which wouldn't fly with video or multiple untied to the victim witnesses, and lie their asses off with both their paperwork and in sworn testimony.

So, what's new?

I wonder why the officer did not just call for back up. He would have had multi cars almost instantly.
No, she did not hit him she sholved/pushed him while they were pushing and arms flopping around.
At the VERY LEAST the Seattle police force needs more training.

If she shoved/pushed a cop, she did something very stupid regardless of whether it was right or wrong for the cop to punch her in the face, or how harmless her action may have been.

Being a cop with a subject is all about being in control, and there are quite a few who set up situations so they can thump on the subject and haul the subject off in cuffs. If she "shoved/pushed him" she challenged his control of the situation.

There can be extremely minor or unintentional provocation which may trigger either conditioned reaction or a reasoned dispensation of a "lesson".

That's the way it is, and it probably wouldn't make any difference in fact regardless of whatever department we may discuss.

Be polite and invoke the right to be silent if it might be something which could turn into a relatively serious charge; keep the hands where they are seen at all times, and don't make any sudden movements. It helps to tell the cop what you are going to do next, such as going into a pocket for a wallet or putting your hands anywhere he may have difficulty of seeing what you are doing in order to comply with his request.

Otherwise you might get capped by a paranoid cop.
