Default San Diego PD Instigates Lawbreaking in the name of Disarmament

Okay- not everyone here is aware of this, as this isnt a firearms forum- but according to California law, it is illegal to possess a firearm within 1000 feet of a K-12 school that is not locked in a secure container. (PC 626.9) It is also illegal to possess a concealed weapon without a license to do so. (PC12025)

So, enter the San Diego PD and the "United African-American Ministerial Action Council". They set up shop in the parking lot af a church so that they could conduct a gun buy back program.

The problem is, the church where this buy back was conducted is located within a 'gun free school zone'. Everyone who showed up to turn in a concealable firearm that was not in a fully enclosed locked case broke the law- twice. Once by concealing a handgun- and twice by entering the school zone.

This has exposed some hypocrisy, as there has been a conviction under 626.9of a resident of Alhambra after he was detained by officers while openly armed on private property open to the public doing nothing more provacative than laundry. More recently a gentleman from San Jose was arrested for carrying on school grounds, unaware that possession there was prohibited.

Fortunately members from Calguns and OCDO attended the event- documenting at least 4 violations on video. The main message of the demonstrators was that those turning in their firearms should get fair market value. At least one of them took up the advice and took the weapon to a gun store. He returned later unable to sell to the store and sold the C+R shotgun to one of the partcipants for four times the gift card value they would have recieved for melting down their gun.

The authorities are picking and chosing whom they will prosecute-disorting legal definitions and obfuscating the burden of proof from juries, while at the same time allowing others to slide because of their willingness to disarm.

I dont expect a buyback anywhere near where Im from- lots of people have guns around here and arent about to give them up- not for $50...

If I hear about a buyback in Sacramento area, I will probably try to put something together. PM me if you'd like to partcipate.
