The weakness in the arguments above are the emphasis on sodomy for one. Sodomy is not all there is to homosexuality. Lesbians are incapable of commiting sodomy. And heterosexuals are also capable of commiting the act of sodomy.

The other issue of gays in the military is confused by the issue in the broader social context. Restricting homosexuals from the military has nothing to do with it as "a crime against nature", but rather as a problem of relationships between soldiers. Homosexual activity is a problem in military organization. Things have gotten complicated enough with encouraging women into the military, but that is an obvious problem and much easier to deal with. Homosexuals are much harder to spot and homosexuality is much harder to confront as a complicating matter between soldiers and sailors.
