Default Twisted SF at it again:Says Its Health Care Plan Is Still Needed

SF Says Its Health Care Plan Is Still Needed
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ San Francisco officials say health care reform legislation passed by Congress won't do away with the city's universal health care program.
Mayor Gavin Newsom and Public Health Chief Mitch Katz said Monday Healthy San Francisco is still necessary because the national plan would exclude thousands of local residents.
Unlike the national health care plan, for example, illegal immigrants can qualify for coverage under Healthy San Francisco.
Newsom says he has asked Katz to lead a study about how national health care reform would affect Healthy San Francisco.
Healthy San Francisco is the nation's first city-run universal health care plan. It has 51,000 members out of an estimated 60,000 uninsured city residents.
