I have been paying close attention for a while. LA county would love to get rid of Prop 13. If those looking at P.13 have their way, look for seniors to lose their long time homes. Most simply could not pay the new tax.
The new threat is the flood insurance I am hearing about. It costs from $500 to $1700 per year. I know a person who has a few acreas of bare land and got a notice about the flood insurance. He pointed out that it is vacant land and they told him to ignore the letter. They are after any penny, any place they can think of. The person I posted about who got a separate bill from the property tax bill. It was a legal tax the school board had on one of those ballot measures and it passed.
