Default Who wants to bet?

What are the chances, do you figure, of this Jamines character either being an illegal or having illegals in his immediate family?

LAPD just commited a big no no. They treated a member of the "immigrant" community by the same rules that apply to regular folks in a sanctuary city.

Default LAPD chief identifies officers in deadly Westlake shooting

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lano...-shooting.html

Hey look they are all Hispanic!

September 7, 2010 | 7:39 pm

Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck on Tuesday identified the three officers involved in the deadly shooting of a day laborer this weekend, an incident that has heightened tensions in the heavily immigrant neighborhood of Westlake.

The officers confronted Manuel Jamines, who was allegedly wielding a knife, and ordered him to drop the weapon, according to the LAPD. Officers fired after they were threatened by the 37-year-old Guatemalan immigrant, who refused to drop the weapon.

The officers involved are Frank Hernandez, a 13-year veteran; Steven Rodriguez, a five-year veteran; and Paris Pineda, who also has been on the force for five years, Beck told reporters at news conference at LAPD headquarters Tuesday evening.

Hernandez fired the shots, Beck said. The three officers are assigned to the Rampart Division's bicycle unit.

Beck said the entire incident lasted only 40 seconds and did not give officers much time to asses the threat the man posed. "There was very, very little opportunity to do much more than what was done," he said.

Police revealed photographs of the bloodied knife -- a switchblade that is about 6 inches long when opened -- that they say the victim was holding at the time of the shooting. Investigators are testing the blood to see whose it is, the LAPD said.

Beck said the area where the incident occurred "is not an easy place to police," in part because of its large immigrant population and widespread illegal vending.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who was at the news conference, urged residents not to resort to violence. "We need to calm the waters," he said.

Protesters staged an angry demonstration Monday during which four people were arrested and three officers were injured. The marchers gathered at 6th Street and Union Avenue near the sidewalk where the shooting took place.

Relatives of Jamines said he was a hard-working day laborer who struggled with alcohol on the weekends.

“He liked to drink, but was never violent,” said Juan Jamines, a cousin. “I don’t know why police had to kill him.”

They had to kill him because he had a knife, was threatening people and lunged at a policeman with the knife over his head.
People called the police for the threats made by the man. Now where are those who called the police? They may not come foward because it is one of their own.

He never was violent? But he'd just beat up his wife before getting shot. Of course I don't know that, but been around enough drunks to know that they do get violent of occasion.

Coconuts! Naui is revoking their indigenous natives ID cards as we speak.

Doug McIntyre has weighed in on this matter:

Exhibit B: The thugs who threw rocks and bottles at cops because a drunken, knife-wielding Guatemalan immigrant was shot in a daylight confrontation with the LAPD on Sunday.

I wasn't there, so I don't know. But the rock and bottle throwers weren't there either. We do know Manuel Jamines was a "nuisance who was habitually drunk," and allegedly threatened people with a knife in broad daylight. It's never a good thing when the cops have to use lethal force, but Mr. Jamines' behavior was the catalyst of this tragedy. Does anybody really believe the LAPD employs a squad of bike-riding assassins?

Henceforth the Secretary of Knock It Off! will require equal moral indignation when illegal immigrants are doing the killing. The deafening silence that followed the murder of Jamiel Shaw II still shames Los Angeles.

As has Walter Moore:

Judging from Channel 2's coverage last night -- which I saw but could not find a copy of -- it looked as though a few in the crowd were trying to provoke the police.

And why wouldn't they, after all the money Villaraigosa handed illegal aliens without a trial for the "May Day Melee?"

The solution to this kind of BS is simple: enforce the damn law. Enforce the immigration laws. Enforce the laws against public drunkenness. Enforce the laws prohibiting people from blocking traffic. Enforce the laws requiring people driving cars to have a license, registration and proof of insurance.

The Los Angeles Times reports that at least 22 people were arrested at last night's riot. How many of them, do you suppose, are in this country legally? Oh, mustn't even ask, because only Nazi Germany and Arizona believe in immigration laws, right?

This isn't rocket science. This is what happens when career politicians treat illegal aliens as if they are above the law, and refuse to lift a finger to protect the quality of life of the City's law-abiding, tax-paying citizens who pay their excessive, unearned salaries.

Today I was watching as they interviewed one of the residents. He laughed and said some of the protesters were trying to make the officers do something so they can sue the City. Sounds like Mayday 2007.

Just a side thought.

LA is almost bankrupt, couldn't find money for the traditional veteran's day parade.

All those political scandals of cities laying off employees while shoveling out obscene compensation and gold plated retirement to mayors and council members as well as all those slush funds and all the rest of the graft.

Could Villaraigosa really get away with throwing money at affronted illegality yet again?

Last night I was watching the same channel, ABC7 and saw the same interview again. That time they left out the part about the man saying the protesters were looking for a PD violation so they can sue the city.
