I was as of yesterday contemplating the incident that occurred in the late sixties. I was a high school senior about to graduate and the news hit the streets. Our "friends", the Israelis, had strafed one of our ships despite the best efforts of our navy to let them know that we presented no harm. The strafing continued and the incident has not been forgotten.
At the time I thought, " My God even our "allies" hate us.
Then President Lyndon Johnson, swept all facts under the rug and continued on with his Vietnam War.
