All this attention given to the Dream Act has distracted everyone from the other basic job of securing our borders.

Illegal immigration has to be shut down through at least these basic means:

• Aggressive and enthusiastic patrolling of our borders and points of entry.
• Aggressive and enthusiastic enforcement against the simple presence of illegal immigrants in the US and its territories.
• Policing and reducing the presence on non-citizens where they exist as entrenched communities, especially where they coexist with illegal immigrants.

It may be unreasonable to expect BP to match the firepower and manpower of the gangsters on the border. Better to let the military in and clean these places out. Just remember how bad things are just on the other side of the border.

To a certain extent, that portion of the border sounds somewhat like the Afghan - Pakistani border.
