You are talking about the Roman Empire, or even worse and basically the same thing, the Catholic Church. People always say that about the filthy Roman Empire, that it "civilized" Europeans. And we've seen what the Catholic Church did (is doing) to Mexico. And we see what it is doing today to Europeans.
