According to Obama's autobiography, Dreams From My Father, his white mother spent 3 hours per day tutoring him and making him do home work. She was concerned that his education in an Indonesian school was not "up to snuff" so to speak.
In recounting his days as a Chicago "community organizer" and all of his handwringing regarding black performance in schools and the achievement gap, he never advises black parents to follow the example of his white mother, i.e. turn off the TV and study. Instead he talks about "underfunded" schools and dirty rotten racist white people.
The public education/union industrial complex is a racket, designed to transfer wealth from people who pay taxes to people who collect taxes.
