Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act would do little to solve problems: Heritage Foundation
The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, today said the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act that was recently introduced by U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, D-North Bergen, N.J., "would do little to solve the problem."

The Foundation says the legislation would grant legal permanent residence status to the nearly 11 million illegal immigrants in the country. It also says the bill's language would see implementation of the Dream Act and the AgJobs Act.

Adoption of the measure would only exacerbate the nation's immigration woes, according to the foundation. It notes that the 1986 amnesty legislation was "marred by widespread fraud, but in its wake, it is estimated that the unlawfully present population more than quadrupled in size."

Other criticism is that the proposed legislation would undermine "meaningful reform" and efforts by state and local governments to fight illegal immigration while creating a hurdle to enhancing border security. http://www.nj.com/hudson/voices/inde...tion_refo.html
