No right to secret ballot?
In Illinois the state government is arguing that voters have no fundamental constitutional right to a secret ballot and that your vote and your identity can be publicized. Another ACORN project. Voter intimidation.

I've been following this on ballot access news, and I just don't understand how they would profit from it. Acorn I mean

This is being proposed in California as well. In this state mostly by gay activists who want to know who votes against their interests so they can show up on their doorsteps and intimidate them.

The secret ballot is one of the backbones of modern government. It says that you have a right to represent yourself at the ballot without becoming directly involved. It allows you to be responsible without making it a first responsibility. It allows you to be as honest to the public as you are to yourself.
I would say that the right to a secret ballot is more fundamental than the right to bear arms. It comes first. I would say that asking voters to register with a political party is something mighty close to identifying the voter with a ballot. The government has no business knowing who votes for what in the polls and it also has no business asking what your political party is. |

A friend was with the DA's office in Fresno County in the 1980's. Back then, militant homos would monitor the letters to the editor sections of the local newspapers, identify citizens who expressed anti-gay opinions, and slash their tires, make harassing phone calls, stalk their children, etc. Militant homos are sadistic savages. They don't respect anything. The attack on ballot privacy is just their latest tactic. Check out this site in Massachusettes. Mass Resistance. http://www.massresistance.org/ |

Maybe I can work in "thadithdick thavage" while I'm at it. I agree that there needs to be anonymity concerning one's vote, because there can be all sorts of intimidation and retribution for choosing the "wrong" option or having the "wrong" opinions. |
