Why limit

Feral pigs are essentially barn yard animals, domestics gone wild. Biologists seem to be thinking that once the pigs go wild within a short time they begin to revert back to the ancestral boars such as the Russian, with piglets born spotted and the hogs taking on more and more of the shape and tusks of ancestors. At least according to recent TV documentaries and magazine reports.

The documentaries indicate that the pig population is spreading like wildfire, growing at alarming rates. They are enormously destructive to the environment as well as to farmers and to residents. These reports range from Georgia to Texas to Hawaii and in between. The pigs are hugely prolific reproducers bearing many in a litter and seemingly frequently. Farmers in Georgia are saying that the pigs are so numerous now that they are destroying crops, other flora and fauna, at an alarming rate and threatening to put farmers out of business. The pigs are so prolific that some say they can't be controlled.

The pigs on your island will surely escape to other areas and migrate. Why have a season and drawing ? Why not have an open season and unlimited quota. These animals are not game, they are nuisance varmints. To think that some day soon they may multiply as they do in many other states and threaten California agriculture is frightening.
