When: Tuesday, December 15th, 2009
This Event has been Cancelled and will be postponed due to inclement weather conditions on that day

Where: California State Capitol - West Steps

Time: From Dawn 'till Dusk (Sun up 'till sun down)

Save Our State will host an all day memorial for slain U.S. Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas on the west steps of California's State Capitol next to the Bronze disc of The Great Seal of California

Save Our State will raise a 30 foot flag pole, and fly the US, California, and US Border Patrol flags at half mast in honor and recognition of Agent Rosas service and sacrifice.

In addition, we will display photographs of his area of patrol, the hazards Border Patrol agents face, and illegal border crossers as they breach our southern border.

this will be a relaxed event, mostly greeting interested passers-by, and offering information to them, watching over the memorial, and just making a presence. If you can attend, it would be great to have some relief, even if only for an hour or two.

At dusk, we will lower the flags, box them up, and later offer them to the family of Agent Rosas as a rememberance and token of condolence from the citizens of the State of California.

This event is Cancelled for the 15th due to another storm on that day, and the next.
I've been monitoring this weather issue for several days, and I thought we might be ok, but that has proven otherwise. Because we will have a 30 foot flagpole in the air, and a lot of paper material on display, I don't think it is safe or practical to hold this event.
We will still do it, but will examine the calendar and weather for another appropriate date

Well, the weather is not good, but it hasn't turned out to be as rainy as predicted....yet. The wind is blowing a little and it's dark though. I am disappointed in having to postpone, but it might have gone badly if it gets any worse later today. I designed the display to be deployed by only one person, but under difficult weather it might have been a struggle, and under adverse conditions might even be dangerous.
Another day will prove best, and a sunshiny day will highlight the flagpole, because it was built to gleam. You'll see soon, and it will do our organization proud.
