There must be something afoot lately. First that sh!thead Tony Villar calls for an overturn of prop 13, and now the Brownout calls to overturn the initiative that stopped the peripheral canal. For those who haven't been around for decades, the peripheral canal was in the works back in 1976, and was going ship volumens of water to developers and agbusiness in Southern CA. It was thwarted by an initiative, but we've only kept them at bay apparently, ;cause now it's back. More water shipped south, means more agribusiness and developement, which in turn brings more farmworkers, illegals, and immigrants. Along with that goes the destruction of the delta up here, and the last nail in the fishing industry coffin, ie the salmon ruuns, shad, and bass.

The rail project is one of two major infrastructure projects on Brown's agenda. He said today that he will have a plan for the other project - a peripheral canal or other way to move water through or around the Delta - within a year.
