Yikes! Made it out in one piece, but it got a little worrisome towards the end.

The Mexicans had a permit for a 5,000 plus man event to celebrate...well, mexico at the state capitol. Nothing new really, they do it every year, but usually I am just a reporter for the folks back home. This time we took the mobile billboard and put up a fight. I tried to recruit some people to hold parking for me, but failed again, so I ended up driving around the event, and actually right through it as they set up. Later, I was able to secure parking within a couple hundred feet from the event, and as fate would have it, a fairly well traveled pathway to end from the event. The tour through the middle of it caught everyone completely by surprise. As I passed through they were setting up all their illegal vendor booths and most of them looked up in amazement as the billboard cawled through the crowd. Most of them stood there like deer in the headlights, so I thought, lets go around again. Unfortunately when I circled back the police had parked a patrol car in the way. So I made several revolutions around the capitol and saw hundreds of them holding up cameras and cell phones as I passed. There were several passing cars flipping me the bird, and as I spoke with Eagle1, another carload of them were screaming the usual Fuch yoos.
So I found parking as I mentioned, very close too, and after getting parked, set up the flagpole and the US Border Patrol flag.
Didn't take long to start getting some attention by the parade of peekup trucks and escalades as they went by me to park. Most though were fairly benign insults and veiled threats, so I pressed my luck and wandered down to the main body of the crowd. Tons of illegal vendors, and I complained about them being allowed to vend from the state property, a strict no-no if your an American event permittee. The CHP officers told me they weren't the permit officers so they weren't going to be bothered by it.
After having my fill of mexican flags, I meandered carefully back to the truck and found many people standing close and having their pictures taken, or drilling me about my "problem" with immigrants. By now, the event was in full swing, and there were literally thousands of them in the area.
I got into a discussion with two females, a young girl and I guess her mom, which was going OK, until an obviously preturbed man decided to try and scare me a little. It got to the point I pulled out the pepperspray and put it in fire mode. He was in spittle flying distance and I was watching his hands and feet pretty close, but after seeing I was not going to go scurrying off, he backed away, but the two girls left the scene also, not wanting to be around the impending violence that seemed inevitable to them I'm sure.

There's lots to relay about the tour, but I'll catch you up tomorrow, and let you see some pics while I make some videos. I was able to tape the belligerant guy, and also got some video of the end where it started to get kinda Baldwin Park-like. When the sun went down and many of them started to leave there was a mob mentality setting in, and they literally lined the side of the street yelling and screaming, flipping me off, and even having their children flip me off. Eagle1 was on the phone with me again encouraging me to get out, and I guess that was for the best. But we got in a good tour and let 'em know we are not conceding anything just yet.

Here is the end of the event. although there was another half hour or so left, Eagle1 was encouraging me to get out, and although I'm still on my feet these days, I still have to consider protecting the property too. Watch as the pepped up mexicans high on fruit drinks, churros, and contraband corn start to show their true colors as I pull out.

Standing up for our country is the least I can do after so many brave people have died on a foriegn battlefield defending and protecting our future. Makes me ill how pond scum dwellers like Obama, Swartzeneggar, Reid, and others are so willing to turn it all over to thirdworlders like Mexico without so much as a whisper

Any way thanks.
Isn't it a shame we can only get one lone man to do a protest and the Invaders can get thousands with their offensive music and flags, and on top of that have the nerve to issue threats to you.

Thanks for doing more than typing on a forum.

That's the point. They never left. They just went somewhere to get some free benefits, better roads, more opportunities, etc, but they don't blame mexico for the lack of them there. To them, they are still in mexico, and mexico is providing them all the stuff they are getting here

Portions of the video reminded me of being mobbed at the gas station on MLK.

There is merit in pushing back, but Im not certain of the wisdom of pushing when you are outnumbered 50 or 100 or more to one.

I lament that there are too few to stand the gap and that patriotism for some ends at our doorstep.

I think it ends at the TV set for many.

I'm always outnumbered up here in those ratios, but there's salvation in surprise. I thought there'd be more LEO, but it was pretty light for some reason. I went to the capitol today and asked why the mexicans were allowed to vend on state property, and the officer said they weren't suppoed to be. Their permit plainly states they aren't. The officer said they were having a meeting soon to discuss other issues that went awry during that event, and that he'd bring that up too.

I've always said we need to start being our own media, but with that said, all of the attention I garnered was obviously deemed unworthy by even the fringe media around here. I hate to place myself alongside Nightingale, but there's still the usual blackout on the most vociferous and active people within the movement.

By the way, not only were the mexicans allowed to vend illegally on state grounds, but they were given access to the upper balcony INSIDE the state capitol to wave their flag as if it were the mexican state capitol

My favorite sign "Dependent Mexicans spoon-fed by American taxpayers". I agree that if a child is born here to an illegal alien they too are illegal. Parents are responsible for their own children. If they make the decision to have their children here illegally then deport the illegal child along with the illegal parents.

Thanks for the support everyone :),

I had a memorable tour this time. I'll be posting pics and video sometime today. I was interviewed by Fox 40 in sac, and it aired this morning. They did some justice too :). They showed the sign with SOS website logo, and they ID'd me as from SOS. The opening shot showed me arguing with a crowd of mexican defenders, and although the segment was short, it was right to the point as to why SOS was there. There was other media there, but I'm unsure as to which ones, and they concentrated on the arguments next to the billboard, but did not interview me specifically.

Update: here's at least a temporary link to the fox 40 segment:
http://www.fox40.com/videobeta/bd47e7cd-ace1-4a57-8a2c-403a931750ee/News/Tense-Argument-at-Mexican-Independence-Day

I had a rather uplifting trip to the event, with many, many people waving and giving thumbs up. One person even pulled to the side of the freeway to wait for me to pass so they could snap a picture. It wasn't 'till I got off the freeway, and into downtown that I encountered the occasional negative comment or insult. I arrived at the capitol, and tried to park immediately in one of the only spots available, a loading zone, but it was too small. I did have a passenger who came with some equipment to take pictures and video, and I dropped him off at the street while I circled the capitol looking for an opportunity to park. On my third revolution I was able to fit into another loading zone after someone else vacated it. I was immediately confronted by a Sac PD officer, and I assured her I was awaiting someone to pick up the equipment. But, the parking enforcement ended at 6:00 pm, and I stayed beyond the loading time.
I also immediately encountered people associated with the mexican event that demanded I leave. Actually. I was first advised to leave, then I was told to leave. I also got into many heated discussions with people about why I would do this, why I hate mexicans, and how these hard working people are picking my fruit and vegetables....blah, blah, blah....
Some of these people were calm at first, but then most abandoned that when I provided credible counter points. I was accosted by a few people who made stronger efforts at encouraging me to leave. One person asked to see my permits, and when I questioned him as to which permit he was referring to, he turned away yelling " You're outta here" , and went scurrying over to the CHP across the street. It wasn't long before another Sac PD came over and had a discussion with me. I assured him I was not going to be encouraging fights, and that I would be out of there at 8:00. That wasn't the entire discussion, but I think I was treated fairly by the cops overall.

Once again at this event, illegal vendors were given free reign for several blocks. I counted 35 illegal vendors, and that doesn't include the one's who were not in sight of me. This is a complete injustice, and highlights the hypocrisy of the state and local authorities here. They encourage this corrupt underground economy, and then have audacity to come crying to the taxpayers for more money to support their quite obviously corrupt bureaucracy. There will be more from SOS on this particular matter, and it's going to be driven right up there kazoos soon.

During last nights encounters, I was called a racist several times of course, and once for no less than calling Barack Obama a corrupt lying devious poser. I was called a bigot, and a traito to my people (Half-breed hispanic and all), and more lesser derogatory names than I can remember. I was spit upon once, hit by a flying quarter (at least it wasn't a centavo), and the sign had numerous objects including several liquid drinks they were carrying, thrown at it. It is filthy right now, and none of the least from which is from one large group of punk kids spitting on it.

I did meet one guy, and older fellow like myself, who thought the concept of mexicans celebrating their independence at the state capitol was repugnant. He was from Austria. He said he had a PHD in business, and here he was working as a security guard 'cause he couldn't find other work. He spoke also of reading over lists of employees at certain local goverment buildings and noticing that hispanic surnames were 80% of the employ.

As of this morning, the Fox 40 segment has aired at least twice, and maybe more. I'm noticing the forum picked up a few more registrations, and an email or two thanking us for the work. There is life out there my fellow Californians; Don't rest yet

The first video didn't play.

I saw a bunch of ignorant kids, long on profanity and delving into unthinking hypocrisy. Some fighting words in Spanish from the background peanut gallery as well.

The woman who claimed to be a citizen and emphasized how hard she works, the sign struck a cord as to the wrongness of illegality - saw it in her defensiveness.

It may be one thing for people to put on a party for whatever reason, but for the Mexican consulate to host all this in the California Capitol is presumptuous, intrusive, and poking a finger in the American eye.

And whatever American politicians allowed this to happen should be rode out of town an a rail.

Mexico Independence Event "El Grito" Cancelled After 40 Gunmen Threaten Violence
A traditional patriotic yell to celebrate Mexican independence was cancelled after a crew of gunmen appeared.
Authorities in a small town in western Mexico canceled Thursday night's "El Grito" festivities ushering in Independence Day after 40 gunmen arrived at the main square threatening to attack civilians.
Michoacan state police beefed up security in the town of Querendaro because of the threat, said the state police chief, Armando Soto la Marina.
Mayor Filiberto Romero suspended the traditional event in which he was to cry "Viva Mexico!" from the balcony of the town hall, drawing the same shout in unison from hundreds of people gathered below.
But men carrying rifles and grenades arrived and demanded they clear out or be attacked. People fled in panic. Some took refuge inside the government building waiting for the gunmen to leave. There were no reports of injuries.
No information on who the gunmen were was available late Thursday, but the presence of high-caliber weapons indicated the incident might be drug cartel related.
A grenade attack on the same holiday in 2008 killed eight people and wounded dozens in the main square of the Michoacan state capital, Morelia.
Most Independence Day festivities have gone on as usual this year, but local authorities have canceled patriotic events in the past in worry about possible attacks by drug gangs. Last year, the mayor of the border city of Ciudad Juarez, considered the epicenter of Mexico's drug war, canceled the traditional event.
More than 35,000 people have been killed since Mexican President Felipe Calderon launched an armed offensive against drug cartels in December 2006, according to an official tally. Other groups say the death toll is about 40,000.
