The last great President this nation will ever see, 1986 Amnesty notwithstanding.

I don't know about RR being the greatest president ever. There are those that I have liked better than others but I will not call any one the 'greatest'. That is a pretty tough call. The times were not the same during that time as they are today. His amnesty is the cause of a lot of our problems today.
You know that thing about "letting the camel get his nose under the tent"?

I, unlike many narrow minded people in this movement, will not trash the legacy of Ronald Reagan over one mistake. I did not call him the "greatest" President ever, BTW. I called him a great President. The title of "greatest" would go to either Washington or Lincoln, in my book.

I don't think I have ever heard anyone 'trash' the legacy of RR. Most people praise him as the greatest. I have always said that amnesty was his biggest mistake. Every President has had a 'biggest' mistake. I think Clinton's biggest mistake was NAFTA.

Reagan's claim to greatness will not last. There is not only the amnesty, there is also the bombing of the Marine's barracks in Lebanon. There are others for anyone who cares enough to drag them out.

Reagan's posing for greatness is mostly the result of talk show radio addicts and Reagan's presidency also saw talk show radio explode as a market and influence. It was no mistake, it was the entertainment industry's greatest coup.
