Language barriers and a reluctance to seek help add to the financial problems. Many fall victim to mortgage scams.

They were the exact people who helped create this problem and are now crying that they are the victims. They admit they're here illegally and then try to scam their way into a property they can't afford, and those that are helping them do it are the 'Latino community' themselves. And now that they've been caught in their own scheme, they cry foul. And what do they run to THE MEXICAN CONSULATE! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
